Graduation Requirements
The following minimum graduation requirements have been established by the Kansas State Department of Education and the Board of Education of the Unified school District #334:
24 credits are required for graduating from GHS.
4 units Language Arts
3 units Social Science. (1 must be Government and 1 must be American History.)
3 units Science (1 must be a lab science.)
4 units Math (Class of 2009 and beyond.)
1 units Health and Physical Education
10 units Elective courses
Beginning with the fall semester of 2001, if you are planning to attend a Kansas 4-year college or university, you must meet one of the three criteria listested:
1. ACT score of 21 or above.
2. Be in top 1/3 of graduating class.
3. Have at least a 2.0 (C) GPA in the regent recommended curriculum (Listed below)
Kansas Board of Regents Pre-College Curriculum
English - 4 credits
Science - 3 credits (1 physics or chemistry)
Math - 4 credits (Algebra I, Algerbra II, and Geometry)
Social Science - 3 credits American History, Government, 1/2 World History or Geography, and 1/2 of any other Social Science Credit
Computer Tech - 1 Credit
Kansas Board of Regents Recommended Curriculum for State Sponsored Scholarships
As a Kansas high school graduate, you may be eligible for one of the three state-sponsored scholarships programs:
1. State Scholarship Program
2. Minority Scholarship Program
3. Kansas Teachers Scholarship
To be eligible for one of these scholarships, you must complete all of the required courses for the pre-college curriculum plus an additional three units as follows:
Math - 1 additional unit; total of 4 units
Foreign language - 2 units required
Natural Science - Biology, Chemistry, an Physics required
